The bowling alleys in Elorrio are located in the rural neighbourhoods of Argiñeta and San Lorenzo, where they play during their festivals. The Argiñeta festival is held on the first weekend of August, and the San Lorenzo festival is held on 10 August, the day of the meteor shower or Perseids.

In Bizkaia, bowling enjoyed a boom in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. At that time, neighbourhoods had their own bowling alleys where people would bet the txakoli or cider they were drinking from jugs. The golden years of pasabolo also saw famous challenges and bets between Bizkaia and Cantabria.

The evolution of the fifteen types of the game recorded in Bizkaia has been very different depending on the degree of implementation, activity and internal organisation. In Elorrio, they play the normal three-chirlos version. This is an interprovincial federated version that is played in the annual league championships.

The player will throw a two-kilogram ball that will spin along the ground and, after hitting the starting board, will cross the skating rink without falling into the street area. There, the final objective will be to throw the three chirlos. It will also be valid to throw another chirlo with a chirlo.
