Korrika 2026
KORRIKA is a race in support of the Basque language organised by AEK. It covers the whole of the Basque Country and has two objectives: on the one hand, to raise awareness in favour of the Basque language, and on the other, to raise funds to carry out this work on a daily basis in AEK’s Basque language centres.
The first edition of KORRIKA, held in 1980 between Oñati and Bilbao, has since become one of the most important events promoting the Basque language due to the number of people it attracts. Twenty-four editions have been held over the last 45 years, and on 19 March 2026, another will begin, covering more than 2,000 kilometres over 11 days and 10 nights for our language, without ever stopping and with the participation of hundreds of thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds.
This year, it will pass through Elorrio on 28 March at around 11:30 p.m. It will be a great opportunity to take to the streets and run in support of the Basque language!
